At MYCO, we are committed to help build a happier, healthier, and safer community for all
Since MYCO was founded in 1993, we have had a longstanding tradition of working with local charities and nonprofit organizations whose missions aim to improve the lives of the members of our community. Since then, we have created our own MYCO Community Giveback program encouraging our own employees to volunteer and show support for the charity groups that are helping to keep our community together.
The program is led by a committee of employees who are responsible for finding new opportunities to volunteer and contribute towards the charitable causes within our community. Each employee is given 8 volunteer hours per quarter to pursue causes that reflect his or her own interests and passions, and every quarter, the team comes together to plan a group volunteering event for all to participate in and enjoy.
NC Arts in Action is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering school children through dance and live music programs regardless of their abilities or socioeconomic status. Every year, we make sponsorship donations and host an annual fundraising gala at the NC Museum of Art to honor healthcare workers, teachers, and students for their creative excellence and contribution to the community.
At MYCO, we are passionate about keeping our community’s trails and parks a clean and safe space for all to enjoy. Thanks to the Town of Apex’s Adopt-a-Trail program, we’re able to make a hands-on difference for the environment and local community by adopting a half-mile section of the Greenway to care for and maintain.
Durham Rescue Mission is Durham’s oldest and largest long-term homelessness shelter, providing long-term care and support to those in need –– from food, clothing, and shelter, to providing training and job placement opportunities for men, women, and children. MYCO offers their support through annual food donations to their Food Pantry.
Meals On Wheels is a nonprofit organization providing nutritious meals, along with a check-in and visit, for our homebound and senior neighbors in Wake County. Our CEO Sam Kumar has delivered meals through Meals On Wheels for over 10 years. Meals on Wheels has since become an integral part of MYCO’s Community Giveback program. The team continues to show its support by making sponsorship donations and offering volunteer hours to the cause.
Alongside education, we know that experience is an excellent teacher, opening doors to new opportunities on the road towards success and career development. That’s why we partnered with Enloe High School as part of a 5-week summer internship program with the NAF Academy of Health Sciences. In the program, we welcome one of their many bright students to join our team and present their learnings.
Note in the Pocket is a nonprofit organization that pledges to provide quality clothing to homeless and impoverished children and families. MYCO shows its support by working with nearby schools and donating seasonal wardrobes to its underprivileged students.
Every Christmas season, MYCO teams up with Sharon McNamara and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) to collect cash, gifts, toys, and essentials for children in need in orphanages and foster homes across North Carolina. Most recently, Sharon, who also serves on our Medical Advisory Board, led the team to deliver the gifts to the Falcon Children’s Home located in Falcon, NC.
Urban Ministries is nonprofit organization supporting neighbors in crisis by providing basic needs such as food, medicine, and shelter for those struggling with hunger, healthcare, and homelessness. MYCO volunteers by delivering healthcare supplies and medicine to their clinics, supplying food pantries, providing bagged lunches, birthday cake packs, and school supplies to their facilities.
Women’s Shelter provides emergency shelters, transitional housing, family shelters, and residential treatment centers, and other resources for women struggling with homelessness, domestic violence, and other issues related to hunger and safety. On top of contributing volunteer hours to the cause, MYCO makes regular donations of food, cleaning items, hygiene cases, healthcare supplies, and more, and has also begun participating in their Tools 4 Schools initiative to provide free school supplies to teachers in the area.
The Blood Connection is an independently managed, non-profit community blood center whose mission is to provide adequate, safe, and cost-effective blood supplies and services. MYCO supports their mission by organizing blood drives and encouraging our community to donate, helping to ensure that patients in need receive the vital care they require.
